Salty

There’s nothing like over 90 minutes of exercise in a day filled with healthy, delicious eats to get you back on track! This morning I met Caitlin at the gym bright and early and we busted out Level 1 of Ripped in 30. Since starting the weekend before last, I have completed level 1 4 times now. It’s a lot like 30 Day Shred, but some new moves and a few minutes longer. I’m using 8 lb weights for most of the moves and 5 lbs for others, plus I am holding the 5 lb weights during some of the cardio for an extra burn! I think I may bump up the weights tomorrow to 10 lbs and 6 lbs! Muscle mania. Afterward I did a quick 10 minute incline walk then got ready for work.

Even though it’s not exactly super warm here in NYC yet, I am transitioning from my morning oatmeal mess to a yogurt bowl mess. The middle sized containers of greek yogurt make the perfect bowl for on-the-go. This mornings concoction (and that of the rest of this week) is 0% Fage plain, splenda, chia seeds, frozen blueberries, banana, Kashi GoLean + coconut oil peanut butter. Very filling and high in protein. Paired with my daily venti soy iced coffee.

My favorite snacks lately have been a super easy protein muffin (super easy if you have the ingredients). I make it the night before and just throw it in a ziplock or plastic container and warm it up when I get hungry around 1 PM. In a larger sized coffee mug sprayed with cooking spray, mix in:

  • 1 tbsp coconut flour
  • 1 tbsp protein powder
  • 1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened apple sauce
  • 1 egg white

Mix thoroughly and microwave for 2 muffins. It will slide right out and while it is a little on the dry side, top it with a 1/2 tbsp peanut butter while hot and it’s like a mini cake. Thank me later.

Lunches have been simple and cost effective. I want to buy all the ingredients for delicious salads, but I also want to buy running sneakers and dinners out on the weekends. Compromise is found easily and healthily.

Whole wheat bagel thin, 3 egg whites, soy cheese & spicy guacamole. More guac on the side with carrots. Unpictured diet coke (don’t judge my diet soda addiction, we all have our vices).

Perfect fuel for my Monday night cardio party: caramel nut brownie Luna bar. Tip: stick one of these in the microwave to satisfy a gooey brownie craving!

PM workout was a quick 1.4 mile run on the treadmill before a dance party spin class. Seriously, Monday nights are my favorite night because of this spin class. So much energy!

Stopped by my favorite health food store by my gym for some things and to satisfy my salt craving. I am a salty sweater when I workout, and I need to replenish after. These are healthy, protein-y and salty! Score.

Dinner was simple: lean & green. Salmon egg-white omelet, green beans & brussel sprouts topped with laughing cow cheese and hot sauce. Tapatio is the spicest hot sauce I have ever had!

I am completely exhausted and need to get into bed so I can wake up for my early morning workout! Feels so great to be updating my blog again! 🙂
